A Los Angeles Production Partner for Speech Data Programs
If you run a speech or conversation data program and need a professional room in Los Angeles, MIX Recording Studio at 539 S Rampart Blvd can be your capture site. You bring the protocol, the scripts or prompts, and your participant release. We supply the room, the signal chain, an engineer on every session, and the scheduling to keep a program moving week after week. Data and research programs are quoted per program, not off a rate card.

How a Session Runs
An engineer sits in on every session. For two-person conversation work, each speaker gets their own microphone on their own input, so a buyer receives clean separated channels rather than one mixed stereo file. The engineer sets levels before the first prompt, watches for clipping and handling noise, keeps the take log, and stops for a retake when a technical fault spoils a take. Content is never steered. MIX I is acoustically treated for low room tone and a low ambient noise floor, the same standard our ACX audiobook sessions are recorded to. If your team prefers to direct from another city, remote direction runs over Source-Connect or ipDTL, the same way remote voiceover directors already work with us.
Scheduling Without Disrupting Music Sessions
MIX is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For a program, we set aside dedicated hours before those slots are offered to music clients, so a participant who arrives at 10 AM on a Tuesday walks into a room that is already set up for them. Blocks can repeat weekly for the length of the program, and we can add evening and weekend hours when your quotas need them.
Participants, Consent and Paperwork
We can recruit and schedule participants from our Los Angeles network on request, or run your own roster. At check-in we collect signatures on your release and check each participant's ID against it, and the session log records who sat in which session. On the vendor side, we provide a W-9, sign your NDA, and complete your vendor questionnaire. Your program stays confidential: we will not name your company on this site or anywhere else.
Getting Started
Send us your protocol or a short description of the program: how many speakers per session, the sample rate and file format you need, how many hours, and over what dates. We will reply with a schedule and a quote, and we are happy to host your team for a walk-through of the room first. Parking is on site at 539 S Rampart Blvd, minutes from the 101 and the 10.
Questions Program Managers Ask
Can a data vendor book MIX Recording Studio as a Los Angeles capture site?
Yes. Data and research programs book MIX I as a dedicated capture room with an engineer on every session. You supply the protocol and the participant release; we supply the room, the recording chain and the schedule. Programs are quoted per program.
What audio format does MIX deliver for speech data?
24-bit WAV at 44.1 kHz by default or 48 kHz on request, with one track per speaker for multi-speaker sessions. Takes are delivered raw unless your specification asks for processing.
Can our researchers direct sessions without travelling to Los Angeles?
Yes. Remote direction runs over Source-Connect or ipDTL, so your team can listen and give instructions live while our engineer runs the session in the room.
Does MIX recruit the participants?
On request. We can recruit and schedule participants from our Los Angeles network or run your existing roster, and every participant signs your release at check-in.
